Themed Cruises for When You Want a Different Boating Experience

For people with sea legs, there’s nothing better than being out on the water. Those with their own boats take every possible opportunity to leave dry land, either for a day of fishing or a much longer journey.

But no matter how big your own boat or yacht is, it will never come close to the size of a giant cruise liner. These super-sized ships are like small cities that sail around on the open seas with all of the amenities that you could imagine.

There’s something magical about going to sleep in one port and waking up in another, hundreds of miles away too.

These are just some of the reasons why people decide to take a cruise for their vacation each year. But if you’ve already been on numerous cruises and seen many of the most popular destinations, then you may be looking for a totally different boating experience.

Thankfully, there are plenty of themed cruises on offer that will let you sail around the world doing whatever it is you enjoy doing with your time.

Poker Cruise

If you enjoy playing games like Texas Hold’em, 7-card stud, or razz, you’ll have almost certainly spent time learning about the mechanics and different procedures that can help to improve your techniques. Some people prefer to do this by watching videos online, while others enjoy getting stuck into a poker book.

But if you’d like to truly immerse yourself in poker, learn from some of the most experienced players, and practice everything you’ve been taught, then you may want to book onto a poker cruise.

Of course, most cruises have some form of casino or poker room so that you can have a flutter while you’re out on the open waters, but poker cruises take it to a whole new level.

Poker cruises go all-in with seminars, lessons, and Q&A sessions about every element of poker from psychology and bluffing to calculating odds. In addition to this, you will, of course, have plenty of time to practice everything you’ve learned with poker games and tournaments for you to take part in throughout the journey.

Most poker cruises cater to players of all skill levels, with content that covers the basics of the game, including hand values, table etiquette, and understanding the unique words and phrases used when playing poker.

Biker Cruise

If you love bikes and boats, then the High Seas Rally might be right up your street. Organized by Royal Caribbean, this biker rally is like no other, since you and your fellow bikers will sail around the Americas while you rock out to live music and enjoy the strong sense of camaraderie that comes from the biker community.

Each year, more than 2,000 bikers climb aboard one of Royal Caribbean’s ships to take part in fun themed nights, dine on delicious BBQ, compete in tattoo contests, and visit some unique destinations.

The 2019 cruise stopped at the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, and Key West, with guests getting time to disembark and explore each one.

Cat Cruise

If bikes aren’t your thing, perhaps cats are. In which case, you’ll love the Meow Meow Cruise, a vacation designed for those fond of our feline friends. Complicated laws mean your cat will have to stay at home, but you and the other guests can share all the cat photos you like.

The Meow Meow Cruise is a 7-night journey aboard a Carnival liner that embarks from Florida. It includes regular activities like cat competitions where you can show off your knowledge of cat trivia to win prizes and the Meow Meow Mixer, a cocktail party that includes a “kitty scavenger hunt”.

When you climb aboard the ship, you’ll receive a special Meow Meow Cruise goody bag, packed with cat-themed gifts including a cute pair of cat ears to wear while you’re on board.
